Service Pros DFW editorial guideReviewed October 25, 2026 · How we research and label listings
The short answer: research listings begin with information published by the business on its official website. We preserve source dates and coverage caveats, do not treat a regional claim as proof of an office in every city, and keep research, claimed, verified, and sponsored states separate.
What a research listing is
A research listing is an editorial discovery record assembled from public business sources. It may include the business name, website, public phone, advertised service categories, and cities named in official service-area material. It does not mean Service Pros DFW contacted the business, verified ownership, checked credentials, tested the service, or endorsed the company.
Source hierarchy
- Official provider pages: the business website, service pages, contact page, and explicitly named service-area pages.
- Indexed official pages: search-engine records of an official provider page when direct retrieval was not available, retained with the source method and caveat.
- Provider-supplied updates: proposed changes from an authorized account, subject to administrator review before public display.
- Verification evidence: private evidence reviewed for the specific verification level shown on a profile; verification is never inferred from a polished website or a paid plan.
We do not copy promotional paragraphs, provider photos, testimonials, or third-party review text into research descriptions. Missing addresses, ratings, credentials, or phone numbers stay missing until supported.
How DFW service areas are handled
A city is attached only when the source material supports that city or an approved editorial mapping. A broad “DFW” statement is not automatically expanded to all 44 communities. City coverage describes a reported route, not a physical office. It can vary by trade, crew, job size, schedule, and exact address, so every profile asks users to reconfirm coverage directly.
The county labels on the areas page are navigation groups. They are not legal boundary claims, and a mailing city may not identify the authority responsible for permits or inspections.
What each status means
- Unverified research listing: assembled from public sources; details have not completed a Service Pros DFW verification review.
- Claimed: an administrator approved an owner or authorized manager relationship. Claiming does not verify credentials or performance.
- Contact verified: the displayed contact relationship completed the stated review.
- Credential verified: the profile’s identified credential evidence completed the stated review. Users should still check the relevant authoritative source and current scope.
- Business and credentials verified: the displayed profile completed the broader review described by the label. It remains a point-in-time status, not a performance guarantee.
- Sponsored placement: paid visibility, always labeled and independent from verification.
Selection and ordering
Initial city/category selections prioritize narrower documented coverage and stable data handling. They are not a “best of” ranking. Sponsored placement is labeled; organic directory inclusion is not an award. We do not invent scores to fill empty fields.
Freshness, corrections, and removal requests
Profiles display a public-source check date when available. Businesses change phone numbers, routes, services, and ownership, so a date does not guarantee current accuracy. Users and businesses can submit a correction or removal request from the profile claim link or the contact page. Proposed changes are reviewed before they alter public data.
Commercial independence
Payment can affect clearly labeled placement or plan features; it must not turn an unverified profile into a verified one. Verification labels describe the completed review level. Directory inclusion and editorial guides remain separate from advertising approval or ad placement.
Limits of the directory
Service Pros DFW is not a licensing authority, background-check provider, insurer, contractor, or party to the service agreement. Users should independently confirm identity, current qualifications, insurance, permits, references, scope, safety procedures, pricing, and contract terms appropriate to the job.
Questions about a record
Email admin@serviceprosdfw.com or send a directory correction. Include the profile URL, the specific field, the proposed correction, and a source that supports it. Do not email sensitive identity or credential documents; use the authenticated evidence workflow when instructed.
